The silicones used by schubert + braun prothesenwerk gmbh are medical grade silicones. These are high-temperature vulcanising silicones of increased tensile strength. Before processing, they are translucent and consist of two components which are mixed in a 1:1 ratio. Shore hardness is adjustable from 20° Shore A to 65° Shore A. Different hardnesses can be mixed so that any intermediate value can be achieved. It is also possible to combine different hardnesses in individual parts of an implement. Vulcanisation is an addition reaction (no substances are released) based on a platinum catalyst.
